March 2006

On Monday, March 27, five of us gathered at Heroes Aren't Hard to Find. Andy Smith was commenting that he would really like to eat at Schlotzsky's, when Shelton Drum hit us with the news: Schlotzsky's had closed! Doh!!! First armageddon in the Middle East and now this. Surely, the apocalypse is upon us!

Therefore, as a funk hung over us like a fat lady in a hammock, we slogged over to Showmar's for what was sure to be a disappointing meal. However, things livened up a bit when the conversation turned to the merits of Rich Little and Larry the Cable Guy and Andy and Tom Haines almost came to blows.

Okay, I exaggerate. But I think I saw them give each other titty twisters.

Tom showed us the cover of the book he's writing, SNAFU - My Vietnam Vacation - 1969, and it looked pretty cool.

Andy's Claw the Unconquered #1 will be on sale in June, and Red Sonja/Claw: Devil's Hands #1 is on sale now. He and his family are planning on moving to the North Meck area in the near future.

Shelton said that the organizers of the New York Comic-Con oversold tickets to the event, so people who already had tickets were being turned away. What a mess! That would never happen at the Charlotte Heroes Convention.

Speaking of the Heroes Convention, didja know that Rosario Dawson will be there? I have to find a way to go without my wife in case Rosie (as I like to call her) decides to run off with me. Shelton, you are planning on having her join us for our By George lunch, aren't you?

Below is a really cool photo of the group at Staton Island. From left to right are Dave (I'm Not Ronald) McDonald, Shelton (Marches to the Beat of His Own) Drum, Handy Andy Smith, Tom (Terrific) Haines and (Great Googly Moogly) Greg Russell.

The next meeting is Monday, April 24. We'll meet at 11:30 at Heroes Aren't Hard to Find.
